"the Road North"は、スコットランドを舞台にケン・コックバーン（詩人/芭蕉）とアレック・フィンレイ（アーティスト/曾良）によって再び紡がれた「おくの細道」である。
本作品はアレック・フィンレイから送られたスコットランドの絵はがきを、身の回りの風景に重ね合わせ制作した作品で、スコットランドのおくの細道を辿る旅の記録でもある。
